Codes of Conduct

• Show respect to everyone involved in the game.
• Adhere to the laws and spirit of the game.
• Promote fair play and high standards.
• Always respect match officials’ decisions.
• Never enter the field without the referee’s permission.
• Never engage in public criticism of match officials.
• Place player well-being, safety and enjoyment above winning.
• Explain clearly what is expected of players.
• Never engage in or tolerate bullying.
• Build mutual trust and respect with every player.
• Ensure activities are age-, ability- and maturity-appropriate.
• Cooperate with officials, doctors, physiotherapists and welfare officers in each player’s best interests.

Concerns regarding coach behaviour should be brought to the Children’s Officer.

• Make every honest effort to develop fitness, skill, technique and tactical ability.
• Set a positive example for younger players and supporters.
• Safeguard opponents and avoid violence or rough play.
• Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance.
• Avoid time-wasting and gamesmanship.
• Refrain from inappropriate language.
• Make every effort, within fair play and the laws, to help the team succeed.
• Abide by the laws and spirit of the game.
• Accept victory and defeat with equanimity.
• Resist banned substances.
• Treat opponents and match officials with respect.
• Follow the lawful instructions of mentors and team officials.
• Never place a bet on a game in which you are involved.
• Uphold and promote the good name of the game in the wider community.

Children’s football should be enjoyed in a safe, positive environment. Performance and holistic development matter more than winning.

• Remember that children play for fun.
• Applaud effort and good play as well as success.
• Always respect match officials’ decisions.
• Remain outside the field of play and in designated spectator areas.
• Let the coach do their job and avoid confusing players with instructions.
• Encourage respect for the opposition, referee and match officials.
• Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake—mistakes are part of learning.
• Never engage in or tolerate offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.
